According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the weather forecast for today, Friday January 22nd, shows a generally cloudy day with a chance of showers in high areas, cooler temperatures in the north, and warm in the southern tourist areas of the islands.
In the eastern islands, the forecast shows that Gran Canaria will be cloudy in the north and east with the possibility of drizzle during the second half of the day; while in the rest of the areas it will be less cloudy and clearing in the afternoon.
In the case of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, cloudy skies in the north of the islands with cloudy intervals in the rest. Winds will blow from the northeast, being more intense on the southeast and northwest slopes during the central hours of the day, getting gusty on the north and southwest slopes.
Regarding temperatures, the minimums will rise slightly, while the maximums will experience little change; expect a minimum in Gran Canaria of 16ºC and a high of 24ºC. It will be slightly cooler in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura only reaching 20 and 21ºC respectively.
In the western province, it will be cloudy in the central peaks, clearing later in the day bringing some sunshine. In the northeast of the islands, cloudy intervals on the coasts clearing in the afternoon, with no rain expected.
Winds will blow from the northeast, more intense on the southeast slopes and northwest tips, with breezes on the north and west coasts.
Temperatures will vary from island to island with a maximum of 23ºC in Tenerife, and minimum of just 12 degrees in the island of El Hierro. It will be slightly cooler in La Palma and La Gomera with top temperatures only reaching 19ºC.
