Covid update: only 194 new cases, over 10,000 people vaccinated yesterday

The Ministry of Health has released today’s updates which show that the Canary Islands has registered 194 new infections, of which 102 are in Gran Canaria and 80 are in Tenerife, plus three Covid related deaths in the last 24 hours. The deceased are two men in Tenerife, aged 71 and 87 years associated with family outbreaks and a woman in Lanzarote aged 61 years all with existing health problems.

There was some good news as active cases for the islands have dropped below 4,000 to 3,956 due to there being 303 people medically discharged from hospital or home isolation as they have recovered from the virus.

The Ministry also updated figures in the education sector which inform that 43 teachers and 416 students are currently infected with Covid-19 in the Canary Islands, and that of the 17,000 existing groups in public, subsidized and private educational centres, 63 are in isolation, which again is good news as it is only 0.3% of the total.
