The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has notified of 159 new cases of Covid-19 today, taking the total accumulated cases to 39,651 with 6,148 active, of which 85 are admitted to ICU and 291 in hospital wards. Also in the last 24 hours they have reported of three Covid related deaths in the Islands, all men aged 80, 81 and 89, two in Lanzarote and one in Gran Canaria.
The Accumulated Incidence rate over 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 47.83 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and over 14 days at 108.71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, both decreasing over the weekend.
By islands, Gran Canaria has the most cases again today with 78 new positives, meaning that 16,242 people have tested positive on the island since the pandemic began, compared to 16,618 in Tenerife who have added 60 new cases today.
Lanzarote continues in the right direction with only 13 new cases today, and Fuerteventura justifies its move into level 1 with just 7 new infections. In the other islands, El Hierro has registered one new case, and La Palma and La Gomera have no new cases on either island.
To date, a total of 852,940 PCR tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 2,692 correspond to yesterday with a positivity rate of 5.53% for the islands.
