The Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands has informed of three Covid related deaths in the 24 last hours, one in Tenerife and two in Lanzarote, which brings the total number of fatalities to 489. They have detected 332 new cases that raises the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 32,613 and 294 new medical discharges.
As of today the islands have 8,212 active cases of which 52 are admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 323 are in hospital wards, and 7,837 are in home isolation. The Accumulated Incidence (AI) at seven days stands at 91.86 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the AI at 14 days at 184.45.
La Gomera has become Covid free today with no new cases and 5 medical discharges which means there are no active cases on the island and every municipality is on a green traffic light. In fact La Palma is now almost Covid free as well with only 3 active cases and all but two municipalities are green.
Good news in Tenerife as La Laguna has now been reduced from a red traffic light to an amber colour, leaving only Santa Cruz and Fasnia on red as the downward trend continues on the island.
It is a different story on the western islands where Las Palmas and Artenara are red in Gran Canaria; Arrecife and Tias are red in Lanzarote; and four of the six municipalities in Fuerteventura are now red.
