Covid update: The Canary Islands add 248 new cases and four deaths

The archipelago has added 248 new cases of coronavirus today (Wednesday), 24 hours before the Governing Council of the Canary Islands reviews the epidemiological data for the archipelago and announces whether it will take extra restrictive measures for Easter or not, especially in Tenerife and Gran Canaria which are the two islands with by far the worst data.

In addition, the islands have registered four deaths in the 24 last hours, two in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria, raising the number of fatalities to 637 since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to the data from the Ministry of Health, the Canary Islands now have 4,238 active cases of Covid-19 of which 73 are admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICU), 308 are admitted to hospital wards and 3,857 continue treatment at home. There were also 282 new medical discharges earlier today.
