Covid update: 231 new cases and 4 deaths in the Canary Islands today

The Ministry have Health have informed of 231 new positives today in the Canary Islands, which means that more than 36,000 people have now tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began. Gran Canaria continues to have most of the new cases with 135, but the rate of new cases has stabilised over the last few days.

Lanzaraote had 53 new cases detected on the island and Tenerife continued its downward trend with only 27. Of the four Covid related deaths today, 3 were in Gran Canaria and 1 in Fuerteventura, only the 5th Covid death on that island during the pandemic.

Tenerife passed a landmark today as active cases dropped below 3,000 due to having a low number of new cases and 225 medical discharges, and in the south of the island there are currently 447 active cases, which is a drop of 33% in January when they reached almost 700.
