Binter Airways cancels all flights with La Palma due to the volcanic ash plume

Spanish airline Binter, has temporarily cancelled all flights to or from La Palma airport due to the evolution of the ash cloud from the volcano that erupted last Sunday. The company issued a statement that they have been forced to make this decision due to force majeure, since in the last 24 hours the situation of suspended ash "has worsened considerably."

They added that this stoppage of operations will continue until conditions improve and allow flying, guaranteeing safety, and at this time it is not possible to make a forecast of when flights to La Palma will be able to resume.

For now, the rest of the flight schedules in the Canary Islands continues to operate as normal, although the La Gomera airport is also in danger of delays or cancellations.

Aena has also made a statement on Social Media saying that this decision is Binters own as the La Palma airport is still open and operating normally, like those in the rest of the archipelago, while sources from Enaire, the air navigation manager, say that there have been no warnings to airlines and that the airspace around La Palma is still open.

Binter has also informed that they are responding through the usual channels to requests for changes or refunds that are being received from affected passengers on these flights.
