The new coastal promenade at the San Miguel Marina is officially opened

The first phase of the new promenade at the Marina de San Miguel in the south of Tenerife was officially opened yesterday (Monday), providing a seafront walkway that both residents and visitors can enjoy.

The walkway has a minimum width of 1.80m and has a 2 metre wide cycling lane to encourage safety and outdoor exercise, and sports and games areas have been created along the promenade.

Stops have also been created to offer pedestrians and cyclists shaded rest areas, and viewpoints at the strategic points along the coast so that people can enjoy the landscape on which various restoration projects are being carried out, to expand green areas and protect the natural environment. A kiosk with a terrace has also been installed so people can stop for a drink.

The inauguration by the Minister of Tourism, Yaiza Castilla, the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Pedro Martín, the mayor of San Miguel de Abona, Arturo González, and the director of Tourism for Tenerife, Laura Castro, as this is a joint project between the regional government and the cabildo.

The budget for the work being carried out has risen to 988,500 euros, of which the Canary Islands Government has contributed 901,800 euros and the Cabildo has contributed 86,700 euros.
