The Arona Local Police carried out a campaign against electric scooters during the month of July, removing 270 of them from public roads, pavements, and walkways that had been discarded blocking the way for pedestrians and other road users, having not been parked properly.

This action is part of a broader initiative by the Arona City Council to address the growing concern about the uncontrolled numbers of this means of transport on the streets in the south of Tenerife, and its commitment to guarantee the safety and well-being of residents and tourists in the municipality.

Over the last couple of years, the rise in popularity of electric scooters has posed various challenges in terms of road safety and frustration for the public. This had led local authorities to take concrete measures to avoid accidents and conflicts on public roads.

The campaign, carried out by the Local Police of Arona, has been implemented to try and educate users about the current regulations of use and to enable coexistence between the different means of transport without conflict.

In addition to this, the Arona City Council has announced that it is working on a new municipal ordinance that will regulate the use and circulation of electric scooters in the towns of Arona, including Los Cristianos, Playa Las Americas, and Las Galletas.

The Local Police will continue working to ensure compliance with current regulations and reinforce awareness for the responsible use of electric scooters and personal use. The new municipal ordinance is expected to provide an adequate legal framework that benefits the entire community.
