Pinch, punch, the first of the month, and the Canary Islands will begin February with another mix of weather, which this time includes snow, rain, wind, and haze, following the pattern of unusual meteorological conditions in the Canary Islands over the last couple of weeks.
According to Aemet, the haze will start to clear in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura as the winds push it across the archipelago, and rain is forecast in Tenerife, particularly at Mt Teide, where it will be wet and windy with snow above 2,200 metres of altitude.
Temperatures are also set to increase and will be more pronounced in inland areas, ranging between a maximum of 24 degrees in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and a minimum of 12 degrees in the island of El Hierro.
Generally, the wind will blow be light to moderate from the east with strong gusts later in the day. At summits, there will be a southerly wind with strong intervals and occasionally very strong gusts. There will only be breezes on the south and west coasts.
