The Canary Islands presents its climate action plan for tourism at COP28 in Dubai

A delegation from the Tourism Board of the Canary Islands is attending the COP28 international climate summit organised by the United Nations in Dubai, to showcase and elucidate their Climate Action Plan for the tourism sector, which is leading the decarbonisation efforts to transform the destination into a pioneer region in sustainability.
Representatives from the public promotion entity are presenting their plan today (Monday) which outlines the steps to be taken for a transition towards sustainability and the reduction of CO² emissions at this significant United Nations event.
Jose Juan Lorenzo, the Managing Director of Tourism for the Canary Islands, expressed his enthusiasm on his official LinkedIn profile. In a post, he acknowledged that he and the other representatives of tourism in the Canary Islands are "very excited" to be at COP28 representing the archipelago.
Lorenzo emphasized that this meeting is a prominent platform to showcase Tourism of the Canary Islands' commitment to the Glasgow Declaration, "a decade of climate action under the umbrella of the UNWTO, along with other signatories" of the aforementioned declaration on climate action in tourism.
