Easyjet flight EZY34T, which departed from Manchester at 6:58am this morning heading to Tenerife South, had to be diverted to Lanzarote due to eight disruptive passengers on board the plane causing problems, as reported by Spanish Air Traffic Controllers (ATC).
“Due to the aggressive and disruptive behaviour of a group of eight passengers fighting on board, the plane needed to be diverted to Lanzarote Airport” reads the post on the ATC official Twitter account.
For this reason, the plane was told to take a direct route and land at the nearest airport, which in this case was Arrecife, and controllers cleared the approach for them to land as quickly and safely as possible at 10.20am this morning.
The National Police were waiting as the plane landed, then boarded it to escort the passengers responsible for the problems off the plane so it could then continue its route to Tenerife.
According to Flight Radar 24 the plane took off again from Lanzarote after waiting for a slot and landed in Tenerife at 1:24pm with the rest of the passengers on board just under two hours behind schedule.
