Spring Hotels hosts its first open day for hospitality students

Last week, Spring Hotels, a prominent hotel chain in southern Tenerife, held its first-ever open day for hospitality students from the TecnoInte training centre. The event took place at the Arona Gran Hotel, one of the three hotels operated by the group in Los Cristianos. This initiative aims to strengthen ties with local training institutions and attract new talent to the hospitality sector.

The open day was led by the company's human resources team, offering the students a guided tour of the hotel's facilities and introducing them to various roles within the industry. José M. González, the group's Human Resources Director, gave a presentation highlighting the career opportunities at Spring Hotels, emphasizing the company's focus on employee development and well-being.

González spoke about the company’s commitment to offering competitive salaries, benefits, and career growth opportunities, along with training in languages and personal development. "We offer professional development and will support you in whatever you need," he assured the students. His message underlined the importance of fostering talent and providing structured career paths in the hospitality industry, particularly in a tourism-dependent region like the Canary Islands.

During the visit, the students, who are enrolled in a waiter training course, engaged in discussions about potential employment at Spring Hotels. They asked questions about the necessary documentation, professional competencies, and career development within the group. Spring Hotels has an active employment portal where interested candidates can submit their résumés.

Following the tour, the group enjoyed a catered lunch and listened to a second presentation by hotel director Alexia Olivia, who offered a personal perspective on working in hospitality. Two long-serving employees, Domingo, Head of the Kitchen, and Arsenio, Head of the Bars, shared their success stories with the students. Both began their careers at Arona Gran Hotel over 20 years ago and have since risen to management positions.

This open day marks the beginning of Spring Hotels' efforts to connect with hospitality students across Tenerife. By building relationships with future professionals, the company aims to promote local tourism development and recruit talented individuals from the island.

Victoria López, the student's instructor, emphasised the value of such initiatives: "It’s important for us to have these opportunities so the students can see firsthand how everything operates." Gabriela Alejandra, one of the students, added, "This motivates us to give our best and understand what hotels are looking for in potential employees."

José M. González concluded by reinforcing the role of tourism in the Canary Islands’ economy, noting that "our key differentiator is our human resources: kindness, languages, and service make us stand out, and that's what we're cultivating at Spring Hotels."
