The vaccination teams of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) have administered 100,246 doses of the new coronavirus vaccines, which are adapted to the Omicron variants and give more protection, since the process of inoculating the population over 80 years of age began on September 26th.
The new vaccines, used as a booster dose, enhance and amplify the immune response and, therefore, protection against all the clinical manifestations that SARS-CoV-2 disease can cause, and are available to everyone over 60, plus anyone between 5 and 59 years of age with any of the following conditions:
Celiac disease.
Diabetes mellitus.
Chronic kidney disease.
Severe neuromuscular diseases.
Diseases that involve cognitive dysfunction.
Chronic liver disease.
Morbid obesity.
Cardiovascular, neurological or respiratory pathologies.
Haemophilia.
To receive this second booster dose, you can make an appointment for any medical centre/hospital through the SCS MiCitaPrevia app or website, or by calling 012 (928 301 012 or 922 470 012). In addition, you can request to have the flu vaccine at the same if you so wish.
