The Guardia Civil have arrested a man in La Montañeta in Tenerife after he threw a rock at the tail rotor whilst it was filling up with water this morning (Tuesday) forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the local football pitch.
The incident took place at around 9:30 this morning when the pilot reported that his helicopter went out of control after being hit by something whilst he was hovering to collect water to be dispersed on the forest fire.
Fortunately, the pilot managed to land safely and the crew walked away from the incident, which could have been much worse, but the helicopter is now unable to fly meaning that the emergency services are two helicopters down today, after a first was grounded with a hydraulic leak first thing this morning.
The man in question has been taken into custody for questioning by the Guardia Civil who will file the appropriate report.
