Here comes the haze! Now Storm Celia has gone a calima is coming

Now Storm Celia has left the Canary Islands, after days of strong winds, 6 metre waves, and snow on the summits of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and La Palma, temperatures are set to rise as haze returns to the Canary Islands with a calima over the weekend.

The landscapes of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura are set to be blurred by dust in the air from the Sahara which is set to enter the Archipelago from the east according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Friday’s forecast, in addition to the presence of haze, shows strong gusts of wind on the summits of Gran Canaria, La Gomera, and El Hierro during the first hours of the day, while skies will remain cloudy in the north of the more mountainous islands with weak some rainfall. In the rest of the areas there will be cloudy intervals and light rains are not ruled out in Lanzarote and the northern area of ​​Fuerteventura.

The wind will blow from the north in the easternmost islands, with greater intensity during the first half of the day, in the rest of the islands, a northeasterly wind is expected with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes, with breezes on the southwest coasts.

FUERTEVENTURA:
General: Cloudy and hazy with sunny spells.
Humidity: 75%
Precipitation: 10% - Possible showers in the north of the island.
Wind: Moderate, 23km/h from the northeast.
Temperatures: Maximum 21°C and minimum 14°C.

AEMET FORECAST FOR THE WEEKEND:
Saturday: Cloudy intervals with some haze and light rain especially in the western islands.
The minimum temperatures will drop slightly in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura, and will rise in the rest of the archipelago. Meanwhile, maximums will remain the same.
A northeast wind is expected in general, turning to the northwest in the afternoon.

Sunday: The Aemet forecast shows cloudy intervals and light haze with rain on the more mountainous islands, as well as a northwesterly wind.
