The Guardia Civil is investigating a man in Lanzarote following the death of his newborn baby, who was just 20 days old. According to sources confirmed by the force, the investigation was opened after the incident on 12th April, when the child’s parents reportedly rushed the baby to the health centre in Tinajo after realising he was not breathing.

However, the medical centre was closed at the time, and assistance was requested from the Local Police. Officers carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the infant until an ambulance arrived.

Emergency Transfer Between Islands

During the transfer to Hospital José Molina Orosa in Arrecife, paramedics continued resuscitation efforts.

Given the seriousness of the situation, the baby was later airlifted by helicopter to the Hospital Materno Infantil de Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, where medical teams continued treatment.

Despite all efforts, the child sadly passed away.

Ongoing Investigation

The Guardia Civil has confirmed that a formal investigation is underway. No further details have been released at this stage, and authorities have not disclosed the specific circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.

The case remains under judicial investigation.
