The Canary Islands are expected to see slightly cooler temperatures today, Friday, although strong winds and rough sea conditions will continue across much of the archipelago, according to the State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.
Forecasters say maximum temperatures will fall slightly to moderately across the islands, while strong northeast winds are expected to bring very powerful gusts to mountain areas and exposed southeast and northwest slopes overnight and during the early hours of the morning.
Weather warnings and pre-alerts remain active across parts of the Canary Islands as the unsettled conditions continue into the weekend.
Wind Gusts Up To 70km/h
AEMET predicts moderate northeast winds across the islands, with stronger intervals expected inland across Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
In the mountainous islands, particularly in exposed summit areas and southeastern and western slopes, wind gusts could locally reach up to 70km/h during the early hours of the day.
At sea, northerly and northeasterly winds of force 5 to 6 are expected, occasionally strengthening to force 7. Rough to very rough seas are also forecast, along with Atlantic swell from the north and northwest of between one and two metres.
Island forecasts for Friday 5th June 2026:

Northern areas will remain cloudy with occasional light drizzle, especially in the northeast, before sunny spells develop later in the day. Southern and western parts of the island should stay mostly clear. Strong gusts are likely in summit areas, the southeast coast and western extremes of the island.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and high of 25°C.

Fuerteventura
Similar conditions are expected in Fuerteventura, with cloudy skies giving way to sunnier conditions later on.
