Phishing is the latest scam doing the rounds in Spain, as scammers are using more and more methods to deceive users by hijacking companies or making incredible offers for either bank scams or data theft. In the last few days, a phishing campaign has appeared via WhatsApp and SMS regarding a fake job at El Corte Inglés.
In the messages, scammers posing as El Corte Inglés claim that they have launched a search for 200 "part-time" jobs to, according to the scam, "expand the company's business", something that El Corte Inglés has now reported about on its Twitter account, warning that it is fake and is not true.
Users are asked to message a WhatsApp number to apply for the job, which states that: “The salary is paid per day. You just need a smartphone. You can work from home and earn between 50-200 euros per day”.
⛔ Desde El Corte Inglés queremos informar a todos los usuarios de que este mensaje que se está difundiendo por Internet es un fraude, por tanto, completamente ajeno a la compañía. pic.twitter.com/8iGVE3eYwd

The text tries to hook the victim as quickly as possible by promising a large salary for doing an "easy" job. In addition, it also encourages the victim to fall for the scam by providing a simple way to apply for a job, such as WhatsApp. None of this is true: the contact on WhatsApp is false and uses images of other people related to other scams.
In a tweet, El Corte Inglés have confirmed that this offer is false. "From El Corte Inglés we want to inform all our customers that the message being spread over the internet is a scam from outside the company." In addition, El Corte Inglés has released a WhatsApp number so that users can report it to the platform.
