CICAR has been rated as the best car rental company in Spain, according to nearly 7,000 people surveyed from four European countries, in a travel survey conducted by the Spanish Consumers Organisation (OCU).
The survey results have been published in May’s issue of the OCU magazine in an article titled "There are trips and trips," which compiles the findings regarding services used when searching for and booking trips.
"CICAR seems to have no rival in the sector when it comes to customer satisfaction," concludes OCU, "after asking European travellers to rate various tourist services: their responses help us identify good services and those that are not so good."
Respondents have travelled during the last two years and were asked to rate their satisfaction level (on a scale of 1 to 100) on various aspects and, additionally, to provide an overall rating of the service.
CICAR achieves an overall satisfaction rating of 83 points and was top in the three categories that were evaluated, which were:
Overall, there are twelve companies listed in the rankings, all of which are well-known multinational companies with the sole exception of CICAR, a Canarian family business belonging to the Lanzarote-based business group Cabrera Medina, and which operates exclusively in the Canary Islands.
This circumstance adds much more value to the result obtained by CICAR, given the powerful territorial presence of the other companies.
Following this survey, CICAR repeats the market leadership it already achieved in 2018 when the OCU conducted a similar survey. Then, as now, users were asked about various aspects: from information to booking conditions, payment, usability, and offers.
"When we go on holiday, we want to have a good time without problems or mishaps. However, this does not always happen, as we know from the complaints in our advisory service. And as important as choosing well with whom to contract tourist services to avoid problems, is choosing companies that offer the best value for money," the article points out.
The OCU is a completely independent non-profit organisation created in 1975 with the aim of defending consumer rights. Its mission is to create a transparent and fair consumer society. To achieve this, it provides objective and truthful information to help people make the best consumer decisions. It is the most important consumer organization in Spain with over 300,000 members.
Grupo Cabrera Medina is a family-run business founded in 1967, offering services in all the Canary Islands, being present in all airports, ports, tourist areas, and strategic points of the Archipelago.
Their logo is a creation of the artist César Manrique and provides direct employment to almost 2,500 people. It is the only firm from Lanzarote with a presence in all seven islands, and its trajectory has earned it numerous awards, among which the Gold Medal of the Canary Islands stands out, awarded in 2014.
