The Governing Council of the Canary Islands has agreed this afternoon (Thursday) to extend the hours of nightlife establishments, casinos, and gambling halls until 4:00am in Levels 1 and 2, without needing a Covid certificate for staff or clients.
In practice, all businesses with a night-time license in the Canary Islands may open until 4:00am, as this measure concerns the islands in Level 1, which are El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote, and in Level 2, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.
At alert level 3, the maximum closing time is now set at 3.00am for these classifications of businesses, and in Level 4 at 1.00am. This does not apply to all bars and restaurants, so it is advisable to speak to your gestor for your licence category.
The vice president of the Canary Islands Government, Antonio Olivera, explained at a press conference that these businesses will not be subject to the obligation to require their clients or staff to present the Covid certificate to access them. This is effective from midnight tonight.
