Three businesses in the south of Tenerife have been fined for occupying public coastal land without proper authorisation, as reported by the Provincial Coastal Service of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The fines, totalling €19,820, have been issued to two kiosks located on beaches in Las Americas and Los Cristianos, and a surf school in El Medano.
The largest fine of €14,000, has been imposed on a kiosk situated on the southern end of Playa de Las Vistas beach in Los Cristianos. It is a 20 square metre structure with a 50 square metre terrace, that encroaches on public maritime-terrestrial land without administrative approval.
A second case involves a smaller kiosk at Playa del Bobo in Playa Las Americas. Measuring only four square metres with a terrace of the same size, this kiosk has been fined €4,320 for violating coastal land regulations.
The third infraction concerns a surf school, Surf Center, operating at El Médano in Granadilla de Abona. Affiliated with the Playa Surf Hotel, they have been fined €1,500 for conducting windsurfing and kitesurfing classes for profit on public land without authorisation.
According to the official notification published in the Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (BOP), affected parties have 15 days to review the full details of the sanction files. These can be consulted at the Provincial Coastal Service headquarters in Santa Cruz.
The announcement follows unsuccessful attempts to personally notify the individuals at their last known addresses. This action aligns with Article 44 of Spain’s Law 39/2015 on Public Administration and Common Administrative Procedure, which aims to protect Tenerife’s public coastal areas from unauthorised commercial use.
