Jet2 meets Fuerteventura tourism bosses to discuss British holiday market

Jet2 has met tourism professionals in Fuerteventura to discuss British holiday demand and the outlook for the winter season on the island.

The UK is one of Fuerteventura’s most important tourism markets, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors to the island each year and supporting hotels, restaurants and other local businesses.

Jet2 is a major part of that connection: according to the Cabildo, the company carried 329,030 passengers from the UK to Fuerteventura in 2025.

Around 50 people attended the meeting in Puerto del Rosario yesterday, Tuesday 27th October, including hoteliers, tour operators and representatives of the island’s tourist municipalities.

The session, organised by the Fuerteventura tourism board, included a presentation by Ricard Querol, Jet2’s director responsible for tourism organisations and airports.

Discussions covered how Jet2 customers rate their holidays in Fuerteventura, what encourages visitors to return and the importance of the quality of their experience on the island.

Winter capacity

Among the issues discussed was the possibility of a limited adjustment to capacity for the 2026/27 winter season, against a backdrop of changing demand and rising costs.

The tourism board did not specify how many places could be affected or whether the discussion related to particular flights, routes or holiday packages. No details of cancelled flights were provided.

Marlene Figueroa, the Cabildo’s tourism councillor, said the meeting gave local businesses an opportunity to understand how a major British operator and its customers view Fuerteventura.

She said the island’s tourism sector needed to focus on the quality of visitors’ experiences and encourage them to return, alongside attracting new holidaymakers.

The meeting followed a wider discussion held last week with several tour operators about winter demand and air connections to the island.
