A 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital on Thursday after suffering an electric shock at her home in El Cuchillo, a village in Tinajo, Lanzarote.
The incident occurred while the woman was handling the battery storage area of a solar power installation at her property.
She received a strong electric shock and briefly lost consciousness, prompting someone nearby to alert emergency services, who quickly rushed to the scene.
The woman was transported by an Emerlan ambulance to the hospital. An Emerlan ambulance is a local volunteer emergency response organisation based in Lanzarote and generally has less medical care and equipment available on board.
Although there were initial plans to dispatch a medicalised ambulance, it was decided that Emerlan would handle the transfer to save time, given the woman’s unconscious state.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the woman regained consciousness, received medical attention, and was later discharged.
