Wheelchair user rescued after being trapped under a car in Costa Teguise
Emergency services in Lanzarote rescued a person trapped under a car on Monday morning in Costa Teguise. The incident happened at around 10:40 am on Avenida El Jablillo, when they reportedly fell from their wheelchair and became trapped beneath the vehicle.
Firefighters from Lanzarote Emergency Services arrived on the scene along with Local Police officers. The firefighters stabilised and safely lifted the car before carefully freeing the person using a spinal board.
Once released, the victim was assessed and treated at the scene by medical personnel.
The road was briefly cordoned off while the rescue took place, and fire crews cleared the road. The accident drew the attention of passers-by and nearby shop and café owners. Witnesses praised the speed and coordination of the emergency crews, who managed to release the person in a matter of minutes.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the person’s identity or the extent of their injuries.
