A runaway tyre caused an unusual incident at Lanzarote Airport on Saturday night after it was seen rolling freely across part of the airport's operational apron, where airplanes were parked while loading and unloading.

The incident was captured by cameras operated by Lanzarote Webcam and later shared on social media. The footage shows the tyre rolling unattended across the airside area while two airport service vehicles move in to intercept it before it could reach an aircraft, another operational vehicle or airport staff working nearby.

The origin of the tyre and how it came loose still remains unknown.

No injuries or damage have been reported, and there has been no official confirmation of what caused the incident.

The unexpected scene quickly attracted attention online after the video was published, with many viewers commenting on how close the tyre appeared to come to active areas of the airport.

At present, Lanzarote Webcam says it has no further information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
