Two cars collide, and one catches fire in Lanzarote
A serious late-night traffic accident on Lanzarote’s LZ-30 road left one car engulfed in flames after a collision near the Teleclub in Masdache, in the municipality of Tías, during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
The emergency services confirmed that the alarm was raised at 12:30 am when Tías Local Police reported that one of the vehicles involved had caught fire. Fire crews were immediately sent to the roadside. The Guardia Civil and an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) were later called in to support the operation.
Both vehicles’ occupants had managed to escape before emergency services arrived, narrowly avoiding serious consequences. One person required medical treatment and was attended to by paramedics straight away.
Firefighters brought the flames under control and secured the damaged vehicles, which had been thrown off the road into a hard-to-reach area, making recovery operations more difficult. The cause of the crash is now under investigation by the authorities.
