An Irish woman has been arrested at Dublin Airport after allegedly being caught in possession of €30,000 worth of hashish following a trip to Lanzarote.

The 53-year-old, identified only as C.D., was detained in the early hours of Saturday, 19th July, after returning from a birthday party on the island.

The woman is said to regularly travel between Dublin and Lanzarote, and was found with five kilograms of cannabis resin concealed in vacuum-sealed packages. Authorities suspect she intended to sell or distribute the drugs in Ireland.

C.D. appeared before Dublin District Court charged with possession of controlled substances for the purpose of unlawful supply. Although she declined to make a statement to the police, her defence solicitor requested that she be released on bail, arguing that she lives locally, has a stable partner and family in the area, and suffers from health issues requiring anxiety medication.

Initially, the court ordered her to be remanded in custody and confiscated her passport. She was granted bail under strict conditions, including the payment of €500 along with a further €2,000 bond, daily availability to authorities, and a requirement to report to her local police station three times per week. She was also banned from applying for a new passport and had to provide a working phone number.

The case remains under investigation.
