The National Police have arrested three youths, aged 18 and 19, suspected of multiple violent assaults and robberies in Lanzarote. According to the Canary Islands Police Headquarters, several reports were filed regarding incidents on the night of April 18th on Rambla Medular in Arrecife, which prompted an investigation.
The incidents started when five youths approached a man who was walking down the street by himself, when they assaulted him, and stole his belongings. Shortly after, two of the detainees hailed a taxi to La Santa, then the other three also got in the vehicle, and collectively they attacked and robbed the driver before fleeing the scene.
Through their investigation, police managed to apprehend three of the five suspected assailants, who were subsequently brought before the judicial authorities.
However, after being released, the same youths were involved in another violent incident, this time a knife attack outside a house with squatters in it, where one of them stabbed another man. The main perpetrator of this attack was immediately arrested and has since been jailed.
