The Carrera por la Vida Foundation, together with the Arona and Adeje councils, has officially presented the 2025 edition of the much-loved Walk For Life charity walk, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The announcement took place at the Hotel Mediterranean Palace in the Golden Mile, where organisers revealed the commemorative T-shirts and confirmed details for this milestone event.

The 2025 walk will take place on Sunday 30th November, setting off from Siam Mall and finishing along the Golden Mile, with prizes and raffles planned for participants. Registration remains open, and organisers encourage both residents and holidaymakers to join the iconic “Pink Tide” in support of breast cancer awareness and research.

Institutional representatives attended the launch alongside Brigitte Gypen, president of the Carrera por la Vida Foundation, who also serves as honorary ambassador for this special anniversary year.

Adeje’s mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, opened the event by reflecting on the initiative’s growth. What began as a modest community effort now attracts thousands of people each year. He highlighted the “preventive impact” the project has had over two decades, calling it an integral part of the identity of South Tenerife. He expressed hope that one day events like this will no longer be necessary “because cancer has been eradicated”.

Arona’s mayor, Fátima Lemes, focused on the event’s social importance and strong community backing. She praised those who planted the “first seed” of the project and celebrated the South’s unique ability to combine solidarity with tourism. Lemes noted that almost everyone knows someone affected by cancer, and called for greater institutional support for medical research. She also revealed that Arona is working towards the creation of a specialised care centre in the municipality.

Brigitte Gypen closed the presentation by sharing the personal significance this edition holds for her. She described 30th November as a day that “must become a celebration of life”, marking two decades of collective effort, awareness, and support for those affected by breast cancer.

Tourists, residents, and supporters are invited to take part in this landmark year of one of Tenerife’s most heartfelt charity events, by registering at Siam Mall or online at: https://www.carreraporlavida.org/
