Warmer temperatures and mainly sunny skies are expected across the Canary Islands today, Monday, although northern parts of Tenerife and Gran Canaria could still see some cloud cover, according to Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, AEMET.
Most areas across the archipelago are forecast to enjoy clear or mostly sunny conditions, especially throughout the south. However, northern coastal areas of the larger islands are expected to see cloudy intervals, particularly overnight and during the morning.
Temperatures are set to rise slightly across the islands, with a more noticeable increase expected inland. AEMET says temperatures could locally exceed 30°C in inland southern areas of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Tenerife.
Moderate north-easterly winds will continue, with stronger gusts expected on exposed south-eastern and north-western slopes of the mountainous islands, especially later in the day.
Sea conditions are also expected to remain rough in exposed areas, with waves of up to two metres possible along northern coasts.
Forecast for each island for Monday 1st June 2026:
Tenerife
Cloudy intervals are expected in northern areas below 800 metres, although clearer skies are forecast through the middle of the day and into the afternoon. The rest of the island should remain mostly sunny, with some early cloud possible in southern and western areas.
Temperatures will rise slightly and parts of the southern metropolitan coastline could reach 30°C. Strong gusts are also possible in exposed parts of the island, particularly around Anaga and the south-east later in the day.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 27°C.
Gran Canaria
Northern areas below 800 metres will remain cloudy for much of the morning before sunny spells develop later in the day. The rest of the island is expected to stay clear and sunny. Temperatures will rise slightly, especially inland, where parts of the south-east and west could exceed 30°C. Strong winds and occasional very strong gusts are expected on south-eastern and western slopes, particularly from the afternoon onwards.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 25°C.
Lanzarote
Cloudy skies are expected in the north and east during the morning before brighter conditions develop later in the day. The rest of the island will remain mostly clear. Strong wind gusts are possible inland during the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 26°C.
Fuerteventura
Northern and eastern areas will start cloudy before clearing through the afternoon. Elsewhere, conditions will remain mostly sunny. Temperatures may rise slightly, while strong winds are possible in southern parts of Jandía later in the day.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 26°C.
