THURSDAY WEATHER: Cloudy and windy in the north, sunny in the south
AEMET’s latest weather forecast for today, Thursday, warns of unsettled conditions across much of the Canary Islands. Cloudy skies will dominate, particularly in the north and east of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, where there is a chance of light and occasional rain. As a result, five islands are once again under a yellow weather warning.
In other areas, skies will be partly cloudy, becoming mostly clear during the afternoon in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and the southern side of Gran Canaria. In these areas, there is also a chance of calima (dust haze), especially later in the day.
Temperatures and mountain conditions
Temperatures are expected to remain largely stable, although daytime highs may rise slightly. Cold conditions are forecast in the mountains, with light frost likely on the central peaks of Tenerife, which could be locally moderate. There is also a low chance of light frost on the highest parts of La Palma.
Wind and sea conditions
Moderate north-easterly winds will blow across the islands, with strong gusts possible overnight and during the early morning, especially in exposed areas and mountain zones. Winds will gradually turn easterly and ease as the day progresses.
At sea, rough conditions are expected. North-easterly winds of force 6 to 7 will ease slightly overnight. Seas will be rough at first, later decreasing to strong swell, with northerly waves of one to two metres.

TENERIFE
Cloudy or overcast in the north and east, with occasional light to locally moderate rain. Elsewhere, partly cloudy, becoming cloudier in the west during the afternoon, where isolated showers are possible. Temperatures will rise slightly during the day, particularly inland and in the mountains. Light frost is likely on the central peaks. Strong winds and gusts are expected early in exposed areas, easing later except on the highest ground.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.
GRAN CANARIA
Cloudy or overcast in the north and east, with occasional light rain that could be locally moderate. Elsewhere, partly cloudy. Daytime temperatures will rise slightly, especially in mid-altitude areas and the mountains. Strong winds and very strong gusts are possible early on in exposed areas and higher ground, easing later and turning easterly.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 21°C.
LANZAROTE
Cloudy intervals with a low chance of light, scattered showers, mainly around midday. Skies will clear during the afternoon, and light calima cannot be ruled out at higher levels. Minimum temperatures will dip slightly, while maximums will remain stable or rise a little. Moderate north-easterly winds, easing and turning easterly later.
General temperature range: Low of 13°C and high of 20°C.
FUERTEVENTURA
Partly cloudy with a small chance of light rain, especially in the north and during the middle of the day. Skies clearing later, with possible light calima at higher altitudes. Little change in temperatures overall. Moderate north-easterly winds, easing and turning easterly.
General temperature range: Low of 14°C and high of 20°C.
