Sewage spill forces the closure of Playa Blanca beach

The Security and Emergencies Consortium of Lanzarote announced the closure of Playa Blanca beach yesterday (Saturday) for bathing due to contamination caused by a sewage spillage.

In the statement, the Consortium stated that access to the beach has been sealed off until health authorities allow bathing again. Sources from the Consortium told EFE that the sewage spills are due to a problem originating from the pumping station, and workers from the company Canal Gestión are working to repair the damage.

Residents and tourists are advised to avoid the affected area until further notice, due to possible health risks. Environmental authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure a swift and effective resolution to the issue.
