The Canary Islands are set for a cooler and cloudier Sunday in many areas today, with the possibility of light showers in some parts as temperatures continue to ease following this week's heatwave.

According to latest forecasts from AEMET, skies will be partly cloudy across much of the archipelago, with a slight chance of light rain overnight in the north of the western islands and in some inland areas during the day.

Daytime temperatures will remain similar to Saturday or fall slightly, while north-easterly winds will blow at light to moderate strength. Sea breezes are also expected along the southern and western coasts.

At sea, northerly to north-easterly winds of Force 3 to 4 will create slight to moderate seas, with stronger gusts possible around the mountainous islands. A north-westerly swell of up to two metres is expected to develop later in the evening.

Overall, Sunday should bring more comfortable conditions across the Canary Islands, with lower temperatures and only isolated light showers expected after the intense heat experienced earlier this week.

Tenerife
The central peaks will enjoy mostly clear skies, while the rest of the island will see variable cloud, becoming brighter along the coast during the morning and across inland areas later in the afternoon.

There is a slight chance of light showers in the north-east overnight and in inland areas during the day. Temperatures will remain steady or ease slightly. Light to moderate northerly winds are expected, with sea breezes along the south and west coasts.
General temperature range: Low of 22°C and a high of 29°C.

Gran Canaria
Cloudy periods will become less frequent through the morning. There is a small chance of light showers in the north and inland areas before dawn. Temperatures will remain steady or fall slightly, particularly in the northern mid-altitude areas. North-easterly winds will be strongest on the south-east and north-west coasts.
General temperature range: Low of 21°C and a high of 27°C.

Lanzarote
Cloudy intervals will gradually clear during the morning, leaving mostly sunny skies for the rest of the day. Temperatures will change little, although daytime highs may dip slightly.
General temperature range: Low of 20°C and a high of 28°C.

Fuerteventura
A similar outlook is expected, with early cloud giving way to brighter conditions. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with a slight fall in maximum temperatures possible.
