Cloudy skies will prevail across the Canary Islands today, Saturday, with widespread rain expected throughout the archipelago. According to the latest forecasts from AEMET, showers may be moderate and even locally heavy at times, accompanied by strong to very strong winds and a slight drop in temperatures.

Maximum temperatures will reach around 24°C and winds will blow from the west, generally moderate but with some strong gusts, and locally very strong in various parts of the islands.

At sea, westerly winds will also dominate, shifting at times to the southwest or northwest, with force 5 to 7 expected. Conditions will range from rough to very rough, with a north-westerly swell of 2 to 3 metres.

Island-by-island forecast for Saturday 3rd January 2026:

LANZAROTE
Cloudy with light to moderate rain during the early morning and again later in the day. Cloudy intervals will prevail through the afternoon, with fewer and more occasional showers. Maximum temperatures will fall slightly. Winds will be moderate to strong from the west, with a chance of very strong gusts inland and in the northeast.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and a high of 23°C.

FUERTEVENTURA
Cloudy with light to moderate rain early and late in the day. Cloudier periods will dominate otherwise, with only occasional showers. Temperatures remain stable or dip slightly. Moderate to strong westerly winds with a small chance of very strong gusts inland and in the northern half of the island.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 23°C.

GRAN CANARIA
Cloudy in the north and west with a chance of light rain, locally moderate and persistent in western mid-altitude areas during the morning. Occasional bright spells are expected later. Elsewhere, cloudy intervals with the chance of a brief light shower before clearer conditions develop from midday. Temperatures remain steady, except for a slight drop in the northeast. Moderate westerly winds with strong intervals; very strong gusts may occur in the highlands and northern mid-altitude areas.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and a high of 24°C.

TENERIFE
Cloudy in the north and west with light to moderate rain, especially in mid-altitude zones during the morning. Occasional clear spells may open up in the west in the afternoon. Other areas will see cloudy intervals with the chance of a brief shower. Temperatures remain unchanged, with slightly lower highs expected in the north and east. Moderate west-northwest winds with strong intervals, and locally very strong gusts in central peaks, along the ridge, high southern mid-altitudes, and the northern metropolitan slopes. Winds will ease at the end of the day, leaving the strongest gusts confined to the central peaks.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and a high of 24°C.
