Ryanair opens base in Lanzarote with its largest winter program of flights to the island

Ryanair has announced the opening of a new base in Lanzarote and "the largest flight program" for the winter season, featuring 40 routes, including six new routes to Belfast, Bremen, Knock, Milan, Nuremberg, and Zagreb, as well as an increase in frequencies on nine other routes including Dublin, Berlin, Madrid, and Vienna.

"This strong schedule offers Lanzarote customers and visitors an unbeatable selection of routes with the lowest fares to book their winter getaways, while also boosting the island's economy and tourism year-round, which directly depends on connectivity," the airline stated in a press release today.

To support this "record-breaking program," Ryanair will have three aircraft based at Lanzarote Airport this winter, representing an investment of 300 million euros and creating over 1,600 local jobs, including 90 highly-paid positions in the aviation sector,” said Elena Cabrera, Manager of Ryanair for Spain and Portugal.

According to the airline, their air traffic in Lanzarote will "grow to 2.1 million annual passengers for the fiscal year 2024."

"This significant investment demonstrates Ryanair's commitment to Lanzarote and continued confidence in the Spanish market, which is a direct result of the airline's close working relationships with key stakeholders in Spain," they added.

Ryanair "pledges to continue growing and developing in the Canary Islands through ongoing collaboration with partner airports, the government, the hotel industry, and local tourism organizations to promote the Canaries and make the islands an even more attractive destination for holidaymakers."
