A resident in the Lanzarote town of Charco del Palo has claimed that a group of aggressive dogs has killed at least ten cats in the area, some of them on rooftops and private property.
The man says seven cats have died in the past year alone and fears the dogs could pose a danger to people, not just pets.
“They invade private homes, chase cats onto rooftops, and have killed three of mine. Another seven belonged to my neighbours,” he said.
He claims the dogs have previously tried to attack him and warns they are capable of seriously harming a child or an elderly person. “They went for my throat when I stepped in to protect my cat. I’m scared, I can’t sleep, and I’m heartbroken.”
The resident also alleges that the dog’s owner has a history of retaliating against those who file complaints. “He has a go at anyone who reports him,” he said.
