The south of Gran Canaria will take centre stage this weekend as it hosts the Miss World Spain 2026 final, with contestants from across the country competing for the chance to represent Spain on the global stage.

The event will take place on Saturday at Sala Garbo’s in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, bringing together finalists from provinces nationwide. The winner will go on to compete at Miss World 2026, set to be held in Vietnam later this year.

Since Tuesday, the contestants have been staying at a hotel in San Agustín, where they have been taking part in preliminary rounds ahead of the final. Alongside rehearsals, they have also been introduced to the local culture and cuisine, highlighting the area as a key tourist destination.

Organisers say the event is not only about the final show, but also about showcasing San Bartolomé de Tirajana as a host for major national events. The gala is expected to boost the resort’s profile among visitors and reinforce its role in tourism promotion.

One of the standout moments of the evening will be the farewell of the current titleholder, Tenerife’s Corina Mrazek, who will crown her successor and officially end her reign.

The competition follows the traditional Miss World format, with contestants judged across several categories including sport, talent, top model, multimedia, social projects and regional costume. The aim is to assess a well-rounded profile, focusing on communication skills, social involvement and public presence as well as appearance.

The contest is organised under the theme “Beauty with a purpose”, looking at each contestant’s social initiative. These projects form a key part of the judging process and reflect the values promoted by the international competition.

Organisers have also confirmed that, as in recent years, there will be no swimsuit round at the national level, in line with changes made to the global Miss World format.

The winner will travel to Vietnam to represent Spain at Miss World 2026, taking place between 9th August and 5th September. This year’s international event marks the 75th anniversary of the competition, one of the longest-running beauty pageants in the world.

Spain has previously produced several well-known contestants, including Mireia Lalaguna, who remains the only Spanish winner of the Miss World title. A new representative will now be chosen in Gran Canaria, with hopes of returning Spain to the top of the global competition.
