A man was rescued from the brink of a deadly fall after his car was found hanging dangerously close to the edge of a 200-metre cliff in Máguez, Haría. The dramatic incident unfolded on 12th October in the rugged “Gallo” area, a remote part of northern Lanzarote known for its steep ravines and treacherous terrain.

The alarm was raised when the Guardia Civil received an emergency call reporting a vehicle stranded in an extremely high-risk location. A patrol from Costa Teguise raced to the cliffside, where officers joined the Policía Local de Haría, who had already cordoned off the area to prevent a catastrophic fall.

The car was perched just metres from the sheer drop and had a middle-aged man trapped inside. An off-duty nurse from Servicio Canario de la Salud happened to be passing by and was the first to act by stabilising the man and raising the alarm before emergency teams arrived.

Working together, the nurse, police and the Guardia Civil managed to pull the man to safety and secure the area. Paramedics then rushed him to Hospital General de Lanzarote Doctor José Molina Orosa in Arrecife for further treatment.

It has not been revealed why the man or his vehicle ended up in such a dangerous location, and no further details about his condition or the circumstances leading up to the incident have been made public.

Authorities have praised the rapid response and teamwork that averted what could have been a devastating tragedy.
