Lanzarote continues to solidify its status as a favourite holiday destination for British tourists, with visitor numbers from the UK steadily increasing over the last ten years.
From January to November 2024, the island welcomed 1,564,947 visitors from the United Kingdom, according to data from the Lanzarote Data Centre.
This represents an increase of 150,000 British tourists compared to the same period in 2023 and nearly 600,000 more than the 970,105 visitors recorded during the same months in 2014. The sustained growth highlights the island’s enduring appeal to UK holidaymakers, who now make up a majority of its tourism base.
In 2024, Brits accounted for 50.8% of all tourists to Lanzarote, including domestic tourism, a significant rise from 48.2% in 2023 and 38.5% a decade ago in 2014.
The steady increase in British arrivals reflects Lanzarote’s ability to attract repeat visitors and new holidaymakers through its combination of natural beauty, unique landscapes, warm climate, and tailored offerings for British tourists.
The prominence of British tourism on Lanzarote underlines its vital role in the local economy and its influence on the island's cultural and service sectors. With the UK contributing over half of all visitors, Lanzarote is poised to remain a top choice for British holidaymakers well into the future.
