Lanzarote airport is operating as normal after disruption on Sunday

Lanzarote air traffic controllers have reported that Lanzarote airport is operating as normal this morning (Monday), after coming to a standstill yesterday due to intense haze and poor visibility due to a calima.

Several flights were diverted to Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura on Sunday afternoon, but the haze has lifted and there is now enough visibility for planes to take off and land on time.

Later yesterday afternoon and evening, Fuerteventura airport also experienced problems due to haze, and some flights were cancelled last night, but they too have departed this morning and all operations have resumed as normal.

Although today’s weather forecast still shows haze in both islands, it is less intense and is expected to subside during the day.
