Fuerteventura Airport extends operating hours from November 1st
Fuerteventura Airport has announced an extension to its operating hours starting this Saturday, November 1st, to better accommodate airline demand and improve flight scheduling flexibility. According to Aena, the airport’s new daily schedule will run from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, with the option to extend operations by an additional hour, until midnight, if requested in advance by an airline operator.
This change comes as part of a wider update that also affects La Palma Airport, which will open an hour earlier and close an hour and a half later than before. In Fuerteventura’s case, half an hour has been added to the end of the operational day.
Aena explained that this adjustment will help manage delayed commercial flights that may need to operate beyond regular hours due to unforeseen issues such as operational disruptions or adverse weather conditions.
The change was made after airlines asked for more flexible flight times and proved they had confirmed schedules to justify it. Before approving the new hours, Aena carried out a full study to make sure the plan was practical and cost-effective, and consulted with all the groups affected, including those managing inter-island flights.
After reviewing the plan and speaking with everyone involved, Aena confirmed the new timetable and made the necessary adjustments to staff and airport resources to keep operations running smoothly.
