Five arrested after street fight leaves three injured in Lanzarote
A group of five men have been arrested in Arrecife following a large street brawl that resulted in three people being seriously injured. The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, 29th June, in a busy nightlife area.
The National Police confirmed five people are in custody, aged between 21 and 27 years old, on suspicion of assault. The altercation occurred around closing time near a cluster of bars and nightclubs.
Police believe that heavy drinking and earlier arguments may have played a role in the fight, which quickly gained public attention across the island after several videos were posted on social media.
Thanks to citizen cooperation and the review of video footage, investigators were able to identify and apprehend the main suspects. However, the case remains open, and police have not ruled out further arrests.
In response to an increase in similar disturbances near bars and clubs, the National Police have stepped up patrols in the area, which they say are already showing positive results.
