Emergency services in Lanzarote were called to a primary school in Teguise on Thursday after a five-year-old girl became trapped when her leg got stuck between a metal railing and a wall.
The incident took place at CEIP Alfonso Espínola, a long-established primary school located in the heart of the historic town of Teguise.
The school is a well-known primary school in the town of Teguise, which caters to children from early years through to upper primary levels. It is situated in the heart of the municipality and serves families from across the area.
Firefighters quickly responded to the call. Using hydraulic equipment, they carefully widened the gap in the railing to safely free the child’s leg, which had become lodged at the knee.
Medical personnel were on hand to assess the girl once she was released and confirmed that she had not sustained any serious injuries. The rescue was completed swiftly and without further incident.
Thanks to the coordinated response of emergency teams and staff at the school, the situation was handled calmly and effectively, allowing normal school activity to resume shortly afterwards.
