EasyJet flight to Lanzarote diverted due to disruptive passenger on board

An EasyJet flight from Milan to Lanzarote was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Barcelona Airport yesterday, Saturday, due to the presence of a disruptive passenger on board.

According to the Spanish air traffic controllers’ account on X, the situation escalated in mid-air, prompting the flight crew to notify ground control. They cleared the flight path so that the plane could have a direct approach to Barcelona to land as quickly and safely as possible.

Once on the ground, police were waiting to deal with the passenger in question. No further details about the individual or their actions have been released at this time.

Air traffic controllers also issued a message of solidarity with both the crew and passengers, acknowledging the stress such situations can cause. “We send our support to passengers and crews who have to endure these incidents more often than anyone would like,” they stated.

The affected flight had originally been scheduled to land in Lanzarote, one of three Canary Islands currently under weather alerts due to storm conditions, although those circumstances were unrelated to Saturday’s diversion.
