Teguise Town Hall has confirmed plans to upgrade three popular walking trails in Costa Teguise, a key initiative to improve both the natural environment and the tourism offer of Lanzarote.
In this first phase, work will focus on Trail Number 1, a 4.6-kilometre route known for its easy access and scenic views of the seafront, green areas, and the Barranco del Hurón.
Currently, the Costa Teguise trails are in a poor state, with uneven surfaces, holes, and loose stones that make walking unsafe. Other problems include a lack of signposts, no rubbish bins or rest areas, and broken streetlights.
The budget for the works is €203,248, with companies able to submit bids until 10th September. Once awarded, the works are expected to take four months to complete.
Planned improvements include work to level the ground, new signs and information panels, solar-powered lighting for safety, the installation of bins and benches, and the creation of shaded areas using stone walls and decorative aluminium panels.
Councillor Rita Hernández said the project represents “a firm commitment to quality tourism and the well-being of our residents. These paths are a vital resource that allows locals and visitors to connect with the natural beauty of Costa Teguise in an active and healthy way.”
She added that the works not only solve maintenance and safety issues but also create “a more attractive and sustainable tourism product.”
