British cyclist found dead in the street in Lanzarote
A 55-year-old British cyclist was found dead this afternoon on Calle Vicente Guerra Street in the municipality of Teguise, in Lanzarote.
The Canary Islands’ Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert shortly before 1:00pm informing them of an unconscious man on the road.
In response, CECOES immediately dispatched an ambulance, SUC paramedics, and officers from the Guardia Civil to the location given.
Upon arrival, paramedics couldn’t do anything to save the man, and were only able to confirm his death.
The Guardia Civil have taken charge of the case, overseeing the necessary legal procedures and securing the body until judicial authorities arrived to allow it to be taken for official identification and an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
No more details regarding the man’s identity have been released at this stage, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
