A woman was seriously injured yesterday (Thursday) and her 6-year-old son suffered minor burns due to steam exposure in Timanfaya National Park, located in the municipality of Tinajo, Lanzarote, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
SUC medical personnel were dispatched by CECOES and quickly arrived at the "Montañas del Fuego" located inside the park to provide immediate medical assistance to the two holidaymakers.
The mother, who suffered severe burns, was stabilised at the site and then taken by ambulance to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for urgent treatment, and her son was taken to the same hospital in a separate ambulance with a family member.
The Local Police also attended the scene and have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the steam exposure, to determine the exact cause of the accident.
