An eight-year-old girl was rescued on Saturday afternoon after getting her head stuck between the bars of a metal railing in Playa Honda, Lanzarote.

The incident occurred just before 2 pm on Bajamar Street, close to Central Park, in the municipality of San Bartolomé. Emergency services were alerted by a member of the public who reported that a child had become trapped.

Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium attended the location given and confirmed that the girl had her head lodged between the railings and was visibly distressed. Emergency responders first worked to calm the child before carefully using a hydraulic spreader to widen the gap between the bars.

The manoeuvre allowed the girl to be freed safely, without suffering any injuries. Once the situation was brought under control and it was confirmed that the child was unharmed, the emergency team concluded the operation and returned to base.

No further medical assistance was required, and the incident ended without complications.
