6-year-old boy injured after being hit by car in Lanzarote

A six-year-old boy was injured on Saturday night (6th September) after being hit by a car in Arrecife, Lanzarote.
The incident happened at around 10:20pm on Calle La Seguidilla and prompted an immediate response from the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC) and the Local Police.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the child suffered a moderate head injury. He was stabilised at the scene by paramedics before being transferred by a medicalised ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for further treatment.
Local Police attended the scene to prepare the accident report and managed traffic in the area while emergency crews carried out their work.
Safety reminder for residents and visitors
Authorities remind both drivers and pedestrians to take extra care, especially in built-up areas during the evening when visibility is reduced.
Motorists should always reduce speed near pedestrian crossings and residential streets, while pedestrians are encouraged to use designated crossings and ensure they are clearly visible to drivers before stepping onto the road.
